Timothy Watson
Tim
is a partner at Benford
Brown & Associates, LLC.
He has devoted a
substantial portion of
his career to serving
the needs of
not-for-profit
organizations and
government agencies. Tim
has extensive experience
in financial,
compliance, and single
audits in accordance
with OMB Circular A-133.
He has also planned and
performed various
financial and compliance
audits, management
advisory service
engagements and
agreed-upon procedures
engagements for
different not-for-profit
organizations and
government entities for
more than 13 years. Tim
has acquired advanced
skills such as
not-for-profit
accounting and auditing,
single audits in
accordance with OMB
Circular A-133,
community colleges,
student financial aid,
state funded grant
programs, internal
controls analysis,
accounting software
implementation and
training, and corporate
and individual taxation.
Tim is a licensed CPA in the State of
Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants, the Illinois CPA Society,
and currently serves as the Treasurer for the Chicago
chapter of the National Association of Black
Accountants, instructor for the Nonprofit Financial
Center, and on the advisory board of the Georgia Doty
Health Education Fund.
He has worked as a supervising senior
auditor for Ernst & Young LLP; KPMG Peat Marwick LLP;
and staff auditor for Washington, Pittman, and McKeever,
LLC; Deloitte & Touche LLP; and Watson Rice LLP. He has
also worked in the internal audit departments of
Ameritech Corporation, Aon Corporation, and Illinois
Tool Works, Inc.
Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in
Accounting from Florida A&M University.
